Rogers Paradise Lodge in harmony with nature

Enjoy the beautiful and unique scenery of the Canadian Wilderness. Immerse yourself in the seclusion and tranquility of nature and leave everyday worries behind you. Rogers Paradise Lodge offers you peace and relaxation, or also adventure, in an area of unparalleled beauty in the Nation Lakes Provincial Park, in Bulkely Nechako, British Colombia.
The Lodge is situated 832 meters above sea level on the beautiful Tchentlo Lake and is surrounded by Wilderness. The unspoilt fishing grounds are the desire of every fisher. Whether fishing, hiking or just relaxing with a book, you can experience the captivating flora and fauna of this area.
Chantal Achermann learned her profession as pastry chef and confectioner in the Swiss Confectioners Sprüngli. She consolidated her knowledge of this in renowned hotels in the Swiss mountains. Thereby, giving many guests the luxury of delicious sweets and pastries. She further extended her skills by working for a year on the luxury liner, the Royal Caribbean. Shortly after her return to Switzerland she graduated as a policewoman and worked for a long time in this profession. Although she enjoyed the job, traveling, horses, and cooking continue to be her main passions. During her numerous travels, she accumulated a lot of experience of the outdoors. With the move to Canada and the opening of Rogers Paradise Lodge, she could finally realize her much awaited dream. Chantal intends to spoil guests with her various culinary delights. She will also attend to their general well being on a day to day basis.
Roger Achermann was brought up in Savognin Graubünden in the Swiss mountains. He has had a lifelong passion for the outdoors, in particular the countryside and fishing, and later, when he lived in Zürich, he regularly came back to visit Savognin. The mountains, and the local flora and fauna being a place to retreat to and relax in. After his apprenticeship as baker and confectioner, and on completion of his military service to the level of officer, he went back to work in his parents hotel in Savognin. In 1987 he fulfilled his dream and traveled through Canada for many months. He still remembers this time as some of the best days of his life. In 1990 he changed career from the bakery to becoming a policeman in Zuerich, where he has successfully worked for more than 25 years. In 2011 Roger took part in a televised three week survival course which renewed his passion to be a part of nature and the outdoors. This experience influenced his decision to realize his dream and move to Canada with his wife Chantal, to open their own Lodge in the Wilderness. At a young age Roger learned fly fishing from his father and passed a lot of time trying it out on different rivers and lakes. When he was a young adult he bought his own boat and enjoyed spending time angling and trawling for fish. The fascination with fishing inspired him to manufacture his own fishing lures made from seashells. This led him to set up his own firm, Perlmutter.ch, selling self-made lures. Guests at Roger’ Paradise Lodge can benefit from Roger‘s knowledge of fishing, and the best lures to use. Also, with his experience of the outdoors he will always be available to offer help and advice.

Kilan was born on the 5th May 2017 and is an Alaskan Malamute. We were de- lighted when Kilan came to live with us on June 11th 2017. He is a really special dog, in short a real Alaskan Malamute. Playful and cuddly, and he thoroughly enjoys when new guests come to the Lodge. He is in his element in snow and water, and he loves to lie in snow even when it’s minus 30 degrees or colder outside. He al- ways wants to be involved. Our guests love it, when Kilan, like his predecessor the wolf, howls over the lake in the evening. He became a father to 9 pups for the first time on the 14th October 2018.

Lura was born on October 20th 2017 and has enriched our Lodge since the 26th February 2018. She is an Akbash / Maremmano mix, a proper livestock guard dog. She is very vigilant and protects us and our guests from bears, wolves and other predators. One feels safe with Lura on their side. Nonetheless she is playful and loves to romp around with Kilan. On October 14th 2018 she became the proud mother to 9 wonderful pups.

Abia is our female Maine-Coon cat. She was born on June 3rd 2012 and emigrated with us to Canada. Our snow white lady loves to lie outside on the terrace on sunny days and observe everything going on around her. Since Abia has been in the house, the mice have had no peace. She loves to cuddle with guests.
Sinux is our sensitive one, even though he’s a large cat. He was born on April 23rd 2005 and also came with us from Switzerland to Canada. Sinux takes a bit longer till he feels comfortable with new people. Many of our guests only see him from afar, or at a reasonable distance lying on the terrace.
Nera, like her brother Sinux, was born on April 23rd 2005 and is our small black cat. Needless to say, he also came with us to Canada. Nera is mischievous and would preferably spend all her time eat - ing or sleeping. She likes to be comfort - able and loves lying somewhere warm.

Xian, a blue jay, is our pet bird, so to speak. Nearly every morning before dawn Xian waits in front of the Lodge for nuts, and if we are late he likes to knock on our bedroom window to inform us that it’s high time we got up. Many times, when Chantal is cooking, he sits in front of the kitchen window telling stories, simply so that cooking won’t be boring. Xian has been visiting us practically daily for many years now, and as might be expected, has become a part of our family.

We were able to witness how Whiskey was born on October 14th 2018 as one of nine puppies of Lura. It was a very special experience and it deeply influenced us. So we decided that one of the puppies should complement our team. We opted for our little sunshine Whiskey. Whiskey likes to romp around and slowly develop her own personality. She may al- ready be very stubborn if she does not want something. She loves to walk beside her father or mother because she feels safe and protected. Whiskey will quickly conquer the hearts of our guests with their charm.
